Book review | The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley

Hi friends! A very short book review for The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley *incomiiiing!* in today’s post. I picked it up because of @abookloversdiary, who runs monthly book discussions for her Thriller Book Club. I really look forward to chatting to everyone on Sunday for the final discussion. Judging by the chat we’ve been having throughout the month already, this one definitely feels like a “marmite” kind of book.

Blurb: In a remote hunting lodge, deep in the Scottish wilderness, old friends gather for New Year.
The beautiful one
The golden couple
The volatile one
The new parents
The quiet one
The city boy
The outsider
The victim.

Not an accident – a murder among friends.

My thoughts: To be honest I don’t actually have too much to say about The Hunting Party.. It is my first library read this year. I listened to it on an audio and even though I enjoyed the last 10%, the majority of the book was just confusing to listen to. I wonder if it’d have been a better experience had it been a paperback format..?

There were various little “side stories” that I felt led nowhere and add to the main plot at all. I didn’t pay attention enough a lot of the time, I found myself zoning out quote often and had to rewind multiple times. I just couldn’t wait it to be over and it felt like it will NEVER end.

I did like the setting; you know, the classic cabin in the remote location, a group of “friends” and someone getting killed.

Would I read again? Nah. Will I remember what I just read tomorrow? Also no. Did I hate it? I’ve read worse 🤷🏻‍♀️

Have you read it? What did you think?
